Reporting directly to the Head of Corporate Development, in this role you will lead the team(s) responsible for key Jounce development programs, driving both strategy and execution, and work closely with Jounce senior management to optimize and oversee our portfolio strategy and decision process.  The successful candidate will have a proven track record in effectively leading clinical stage oncology drug development teams and portfolio decision-making. 

Role / Responsibilities

  • Lead key Jounce development programs, including:
    • Develop the overall program vision and strategy, including scientific, clinical, and pre-commercial strategies and plans through BLA and initial launch
    • Lead the program strategic planning, decision-making, objective setting, and risk assessment/mitigation processes to maximize the value and optimize the execution of each program
    • Ensure cross-functional alignment within the program team and with senior management
    • Hold team accountable for deliverables and timelines; instill appropriate sense of urgency
    • Work creatively to find solutions to problems and overcome obstacles
    • Represent the program to executive stakeholders including the Board of Directors


  • Build and lead a team of program leaders and managers to provide coverage as the portfolio expands
  • Oversee the Jounce development portfolio strategy, including
    • Develop frameworks for portfolio decision-making
    • Coordinate the portfolio governance process
    • Work closely with senior management to assure robust decision-making with respect to specific internal programs, business development opportunities, and the portfolio as a whole



  • 10+ years industry experience in Oncology, preferably including Immuno-oncology, with demonstrated drug development expertise, including through at least end of phase II, preferably including biologics;
  • Strong strategic thinker, incorporating clinical, scientific, commercial, regulatory, and other considerations to determine the best strategies
  • Proven track record of leading, coaching and developing high functioning teams to drive programs to meet/exceed their objectives
  • Strong relationship building, leadership, and communication skills
  • Facilitator for efficient decision making and conflict resolution
  • Skilled at understanding team dynamics, ability to leverage strengths and mitigate weaknesses
  • PhD, MD or equivalent in Immunology, Oncology or related field strongly preferred
