Company Summary

The Protein production group at Jounce Therapeutics is looking for an individual experienced in molecular biology, mammalian cell culture, protein purification, and characterization.  The successful candidate will play an important role in the discovery and development of novel biotherapeutics for immuno-oncology.  He/she will be will be responsible for the production of antibodies and proteins for use in R&D that will enable the development of groundbreaking therapies.  He/she will be expected to participate in experimental design, conduct experiments, optimize throughput, maintain detailed records, and generate standard operating procedures.  This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-paced environment in the dynamic field of immuno-oncology.

Role / Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Transient protein production in mammalian cells
  • Protein purification steps including affinity chromatography, IEX, SEC, etc.
  • Protein quality control – SE-HPLC, SDS-PAGE, endotoxin assays
  • Determination of binding affinities by Octet
  • Developing methods for automating cell culture transfection, protein purification and screening assays in high throughput fashion using liquid handling robots
  • Operation of liquid handling robots such as Hamilton Star and Tecan
  • Thorough documentation and cross-functional communication

Qualifications

 

Requirements:

  • B.S. or M.S. in biochemistry or a related discipline with 3-5 years of biotech/pharma industry experience
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and aseptic techniques, required
  • Experience with transient and stable mammalian (CHO and HEK) protein expression, required
  • Experience with automated protein purification techniques using GE’s AKTA systems and Unicorn software, required
  • Experience with analyzing proteins (SE-HPLC, endotoxin assays, SDS-PAGE, Western Blots) required
  • Experience with downstream process development, a plus
  • Experience with Forte Bio Octet, a plus
  • Experience with high-throughput cell culture expression and protein purification techniques, a plus
  • Ability to work with LIMS and biological registration systems as well as electronic lab notebook softwares, required
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong documentation skills, and ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal), required
