The Cell Line Development group at Jounce Therapeutics is looking for a Senior Research Associate experienced in mammalian cell culture. The successful candidate will play an important role in the generation of stable cell lines for the production of novel biotherapeutics for immuno-oncology.  S/he will be responsible for screening, cloning and characterizing CHO cell lines using cell biology, molecular biology and biochemistry techniques.  As a member of the CMC group, s/he will have the opportunity to work cross-functionally as part of internal multi-disciplinary program teams, and will support experimental design and planning, conducting experiments, and communicating results. This is an exciting position in the dynamic field of immuno-oncology which provides opportunity for growth in a fast-paced, start-up environment.

Role / Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing aseptic cell culture operations in multiple formats including multiwell plates, shake flasks, 24-deep well plate, benchtop bio-reactors
  • Transfection, generation and screening of CHO cell lines and identification of production candidates
  • Performing batch and fed-batch experiments
  • Knowledge of fundamental molecular biology principles and use of sequence analysis software
  • Working cross-functionally as part of internal multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Recording and communicating findings in a timely manner

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, chemical engineering or a related discipline with 3+ years of industry research experience
  • Experience in cell line development, cell culture process development and benchtop bio-reactor operation
  • Ability to handle large datasets in Excel
  • Experience with high-resolution imaging
  • Experience with protein binding assays (ForteBio Octet)
  • Experience with fundamental molecular biology techniques and flow cytometry, a plus
  • Experience with vector design, protein expression and purification, and protein analytics, a plus
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong documentation skills, and ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal), required
